Cherry Blossoms DC {2011}

One of the benefits to working in DC is I can easily
walk the Tidal Basin to view the Cherry Blossoms after work.
I look forward to this every year!  So beautiful!!

Things I Love {Film}

In this digital age, most have forgotten the beauty and wonder of film.
Some of my favorite photographers use film for wedding, portrait shoots even today.
I continue to use film cameras to photograph a lot of my personal life.
Today, I wanted to share a few of my collection.
Some of the cameras are antiques and not functioning - display pieces for my future studio space.
Others, still get used.

The Kodak Brownie Hawkeye (1950s)
Argus C3 aka "The Brick" (1940s-1960s)
I will admit -- I haven't loaded my first roll of 35mm into this bad boy yet -- but it's in the plans.
The Polaroid Land Camera (1970s)
Film no longer produced - serves as a display piece.  Stunning!
The Kodak Dualflex IV - Twin Lens Reflex (1947-1960)
I have plans to outfit this with 35 mm eventually.
My Canon AE-1 (1970s-1980s)
A Christmas gift this past Holiday.  It gets used frequently :) Complete with Hippie Strap!
My father's Olympus SLR.  So many incredible images captured with this camera.
A couple of my favorites captured by my father, back when my parents were first dating.
My mother is stunning!
Backlighting... beautiful!
Film is so special and magical to me.
I will always love it and continue to use it as a medium for as long as I can!

p.s. My birthday is coming up and I am ALWAYS looking to add to my collection! ;)

Canon s95 {Impressive Results}

I have owned the Canon s95 for a few months now but it doesn't get out much...
I usually end up taking along one of my film cameras or one of my Canon dSLRs.
This past weekend, on one of our spontaneous un-planned outings, we ended up going for a walk at
Brookside Gardens and stopping for dinner in Georgetown.
I happened to have my s95 on me and I am pleased with the results.
This little camera packs a lot of punch!
The f/2.0 lens, macro capabilities, RAW format, and wide angle lens really make it a sweet addition.
Of course, it's no Canon 5d Mark II with f/2.8 Macro lens... but it fits in my pocket and does the trick :)
This last shot is my fave from the day...
the sun setting in Georgetown as couples stroll along the canal.  So pretty and romantic!
Tomorrow after work I'll be walking the DC Tidal Basin for Cherry Blossom photos.
I am loving the bloom of spring!  Now... can we just get some warm weather please?

Jane & Sik {Engagement Photos}

Im am going to start this post with a statement.  I love my job.
Yeah, yeah, I KNOW I say it a lot... but its true!!
I get to meet some of the most fun, energetic, fabulous, intriguing, diverse, and intelligent people!
Added bonus? I get to document their love...

Jane and Sik have been a pleasure from the start.
During our first meeting Sik told me how he loves to make Jane happy.
To which she responded with the most glorious smile.
**MELT. MY. HEART!**

Jane and Sik were married in Korea this past January and will have their
American ceremony at the end of April.

Needless to say, I can not wait to get these two in front of my lens again!
p.s. Brookside Gardens is a fabulous location to shoot!
Or just to go for a walk at the park.
I haven't ben here since my FIRST engagement session YEARS ago!
It was wonderful to re-visit and explore from a different perspective.

The Importance of Girlfriends

True friends are hard to come by.
These lucky ladies have been best friends for well over 30 years.
Not just friends, they told me, family.
While they now live in different areas along the east coast they make sure to see each other
at least twice a year.  That is something special.
I was thrilled to be able to photograph them during one of their gatherings.
I have a similar group of ladies in my life.
I know one day we will be 60 and looking back on our photos of when we were 18.
You know who you are.  I love you!

"The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart."  ~Elisabeth Foley

Yael {4 Months}

Yael is one of the happiest girls that I have met.
She was all smiles and giggles throughout the morning.
It was such a pleasure to photograph this little lady!
